Enjoying the Sunset
Several colors of sheet glass, glass powder and glass frit were fused together to create the sunset background. The three crows were then created. Wings and bodies were first fired flat as separate items. The two crows, their wings and bodies where then positioned on the sunset background. The flying crow was composed separately. A combination of fiber board and kiln paper was used to create the dimensional effect of the birds and the final piece was fired for the third time. The composition was then framed in wooden slats on each side. The crow flying off the piece was then mounted to the frame to give the illusion of the bird flying out of the sculpture.
